Our trip to Nerja was in search of a book store and we came across the Nerja Book Centre that was the fulfilment of all book lovers dreams. The second hand books were carefully placed from floor to ceiling and sectioned into all readers’ interests was a true gem. The store allows any book purchased within 12 months to be returned and 50% of its price applied to the purchase of another book. It is certainly everybody’s book shelf.
The Nerja Book Centre has been in this location for 40 years and the breadth of books in Spanish, English, French German and Sami languages speaks to its reader base and global reach. We purchased 3 books commenting that a walk through the book store was a travel story in itself and said we maybe back to take up the offer!!
Our book journey opened up a story about Nerja. Nerja is a seaside town a short drive from Frigiliana. It is a town with an old town quarter along with tiling that reflects its Moorish past. It was a bustling town this Saturday with its narrow lanes filled with market stalls, shops and of course the ubiquitous tapas bars. The town square sitting above the cliff tops overlooking the tempestuous Mediterranean was filled with people and a lone busker playing acoustic guitar. It was a site, sight and sound to experience and enjoy.
