Fast art fast food slow queues! But it’s Paris! Musee d’Orsay was once a railway station. It seems its former life remains as ‘passengers’ queue to enter the central hall and then find their way to ‘platform’ 5 to view the unique collection of Impressionists and Post Impressionists.
The young and the not so young move in unison some wearing the ubiquitous headphones whilst others trail along listening intently to their informer guides. They blockade the artworks and mobiles reach above the pack to engage.
No gaps are to be seen between the art and ‘passengers’ as they cram to get the closer of close ups up and then move on hopeful that a showing back home will bring the sighs and exclamations as the artworks demand.
Restaurants and cafes have long queues as do staircases and lifts. The museum guards remain relaxed fixated on their life after the shift and all seems to be well except for a security alert that closes off the lift and stairs to lower floors. No one skips a beat in their viewing and life goes on…
